MGS3 Russian
The Russian words in Metal Gear Solid 3.

For a long time I didn't know how to have Russian letters display properly on the Geocities webpage. But once I figured it out, it is actually surprisingly easy. I just wasn't thinking right.

So here's the topic.
First, the Russian alphabet chart:

В вvМ мmЧ чch
Г гgН нnШ шsh
Д дdО оoЩ щshch

Ж жzhС сsЬ ь(soft)
З зzТ тtЭ эe
И иiУ уuЮ юu, ju
Й йjФ фfЯ яa, ja

Now let's take a look at some of the Russian words seen in Groznyj Grad, and see if we can decipher what the various words read.

ФАБРИКА = FABRIKA, meaning factory.
СТОП = STOP.
Прототип = Prototype.

Шагоход = Shagohod.
Incidentally, in Russian, the Imperial Walker in Star Wars V The Empire Strikes Back is also called the "шагоход".

СВД = SVD.
Снайперская Винтовка Драгунова = Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova = Sniper Rifle Dragunov, named after the weapon's designer Evgeniy Fedorovich Dragunov (Евгений Фёдорович Драгунов, 2.20.1920 ~ 8.4.1991).

Мосин Наган (also Винтовка Мосина) = Mosin Nagant, the origin of which are the two names of the two original designers of the weapon.

СССР = SSSR.
СССР = Союз Советских Социалистических Республик = Soyuz Sovetskikh Sotsialisticheskikh Respublik = SSSR = Union of Soviet Socialist Republics = USSR.

БЕИ = BEI, which I don't personally recognize, but was told by a Russian friend that it means "to hit", "where to be hit", or "weak spot". However, she said she wasn't completely familiar with the term either. She's a third generation Russian-American. So Russian isn't exactly her most fluent language either.
^_^;

Оцелот = Ocelot.
Волгин = Volgin.
Райков = Raikov.
Соколов = Sokolov.
Гранин = Granin.
Босс = Boss. (Russian grammer doesn't use the "The" ahead of nouns this way.)
Ева = Eva.
Нэйкид Снэйк = Naked Snake.

Змейка = actual Russian for "snake".

Метал Гир = Metal Gear.
Метал Гир Солид = Metal Gear Solid.

That is all, for now...
