The Tsuchinoko must be captured using a Mousetrap, in any of the above listed areas.
The Tsuchinoko is not visible to the naked eye, nor is it responsive to any of the radars or sensors.
The live captured Tsuchinoko will be lost after the Volgin torture sequence, but can then be re-captured at Tikhogornyj, after meeting with Eva, visible to the eye, just shoot with a tranquilizing weapon.
The Tsuchinoko will not appear in Tikhogornyj if it hadn't already been captured previously.
To possess a Mousetrap early on, during the Virtuous Mission, after the Rassvet Ocelot event cutscene, shake Ocelot to get a mousetrap from him. Set the mousetrap down in Rassvet, and when you return there during the Snake Eater Operation the mousetrap will still be at the same spot. Use this mousetrap to capture the Tsuchinoko early on.
There is only one Tsuchinoko in the game, if you eat it, you will not be able to capture a second one.
Eating the Tsuchinoko regains full all four bars of stamina.
Clear game with a live captured Tsuchinoko unlocks the Infinity Face Paint and grants the Tsuchinoko Code Name.

Clear game with a live captured Parrot unlocks nothing.
